Trip to Thailand
Thank you for your support and prayers as we went to Thailand. We had a great time as a family. Ryan and I got to spend a lot of time talking about our goals for the next 6 months.
We had a great time enjoying God's nature. Both at the hotel and away. The hotel we stayed at in Chiang Mai had a Koi pond and fountains and many orchids. (Ryan loves water features and Koi)
We also got to ride on an elephant. Can you belive Anna fell asleep?
Ryan and I enjoyed having some time to just think and pray about our future and of course we had fun too. Oh and we got to stock up on a couple western items that are much more expensive in India, (clothing, camera battery)
Part of our elephant tour included a visit to a tribe of long neck people. They had been in Burma but came to Chiang Mai because it was safer. The women make crafts to support their families while the men work in the city. We could feel that they were looked at as oddities and not as people. That was very true of the teens, such as the one pictured here. With the language barrier and the short time we were there it was hard to convey that we did care about them personally. They were too hardened from all their other visitors.
But now we are back to the 'grind' we have scheduled to talk with the teacher on monday with our friend and translator Bungi.
