Canning Apples

I'm trying to get back into canning again.  The ones in the first 2 bays are this years and the other bay is 2015 and 2016.

I found apples but unfortunately my KitchenAid mixer won't turn and my hand blender died.  Thus they are on my husbands desk for repair.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to deal with ugly apples. I was able to get some juice out to make jelly.  They are so lumpy it is useless to use my apple peeler corer.

I also end up with little bits of the outside because I grounded up and then I put it through my kitchen strainer.

My eldest so I thought would hate it the most gobbled it up and then the one who I thought would love it the most was like no thank you Mom try again.

Here is what I made in 2015-16.  Much of this has been eaten.  In 2016 we moved from Iowa to Michigan so I didn't can as much.

Little Grey

This is Little Grey

He allows us to live here under his watchful eyes.

They are some beautiful eyes.

We need to supply lots of sunny windows and available heat vents.

You may go on with your day now.

Birdhouses and Anna

Anna built a birdhouse at her class after school at the Fenton Library.  She is the crafty one and so I signed her up for a class that involved electronics to glitter, chemical reactions and glue.

She built a birdhouse.  Then she covered it in tape and paint.  She did a wonderful job, it is really cute.  She ran out of the van when we got home and put it on the porch to be some birds home.

Problem is it is covered in washi tape.  It is raining and snowy here.  That tape will fade and fall off soon.  I know that.  As mom I want to quick varnish it 3 times and protect it so she doesn't get disappointed if/when it falls apart.

I want to protect her.  I want to keep her safe and happy.  This move has been hard, she doesn't have any close friends, the girls behave catty and mean.  Her heart is grieving.  She really doesn't have any connection with her old friends.  I hurt for her.  When we moved her cat of 3 years died.  She is 12, all around bad time to be a kid.  I want to save her from pain but I don't know how.

I pray.

I pray a lot for her.

Welcome Winter to Linden Michigan

The snow came at 8 am.

We got to walk to the bus stop.

I came back to snow all over.

The birds were still eating.

The pond is still there.

Can't see the houses on the other side of the pond right now.

It is so pretty, tranquil, peaceful, quiet and untouched.

Unique, covering some but not all of this stump.

Soon we will get to have a fire again.  I love this balancing act.

The back of our home with the huge windows.
