Two Or More Are Gathered
Nancy and I did something special for Maundy Thursday. After Anna went to bed we sat down and read Exodus 12, 600,000 men plus women and children all eating roasted mutton with their robes on and staff in hand... how many people does one lamb feed?
Then we read Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22, and 1 Cor 11. Interesting how that Passover meal has changed. Do you think there were only 13 in the upper room or more? Luke 10, and Acts 1 make me wonder. Big events, done with lots of others but this time it was only Nancy and I. And I learned something.
We were talking about how we usually do this, a small bit of bread, a sip of wine. Here with Nancy the bread filled our mouths. The wine, (pomegranate juice) also filled our mouths completely versus a little sip. It hit me as a great symbolism of what so many of us selfishly want. Just enough for life insurance, just enough, but we are still in control. But we should really give it all, take Him fully, and give ourselves fully. How often do I want only a little... but in truth He wants all of me, to fill me completely and and use me completely. Are you willing, what will you do if not?
Note: keep up with my thoughts such as this at my blog considering the cost.
